If your reservation was confirmed directly with our phone representatives or thru our website, please use the same channel to cancel it. Mex does not charge for cancellations but we will thank you if you notify us in case your plans change. If your booking was made through a third party website, please review their site policy to avoid cancellation charges.

The minimum age to rent a vehicle with us is 18 years old. Please be aware that drivers between the ages of 18 and 25 are subject to a "young driver" daily fee. You can verify the exact cost of this fee during the booking process on our website.

It is important to present the documents in physical and valid during your rental period, complying with the requirements that we will share with you below to make your reservation valid:

• Official ID: INE or Passport.
• Valid driver's license: It must have more than 1 year of use and in Roman alphabet. In case you do not have a license in Roman alphabet, you must present a valid and physical international driver's license.
• Credit card: It must be personalized in the name of the main driver and cardholder and with more than 1 year of use. It is important to present the physical card as we do not currently offer contactless or digital card payments.

To pick up your vehicle, you only need to present three valid documents:

• A government-issued photo ID (Passport or official ID).
• A valid driver's license (national or international).
• A credit card in the main driver's name for the security deposit.

We do not require proof of address or credit history checks.

The minimum rental age is 18 years old. Drivers between 18 and 24 years of age are subject to a young driver surcharge of $264.65 MXN per day (taxes included). This fee applies at all MEX locations in the Monterrey metro area.

When you pick up your vehicle at Terminal B, you'll need to present

• A valid government-issued ID (Mexican INE or passport)
• A valid driver's license, and
• A physical credit card in your name.

Prepaid cards and cash are not accepted for the security deposit. Your passport must remain valid throughout the entire rental period.

The minimum age to rent a car with MEX in Mexico is 18 years old. Please note that if the primary driver is between 18 and 24 years old, a mandatory young driver fee applies, which amounts to $13 USD per day, taxes included, for city locations like Punto São Paulo. Yes, it does. All base rates for direct reservations on our official website automatically include our standard protection package: Third-Party Liability (RLP) up to $750,000 MXN and a partial Collision Damage Waiver (CDW). Under this basic option, your financial responsibility is limited to a 10% deductible of the vehicle's invoice value for material damages or total loss, and a 20% deductible for total theft. If you prefer to drive with zero out-of-pocket expenses, our Total Coverage (CT) plan is available both online and at the counter during your vehicle pick-up.

Yes, you can easily register additional drivers to share the wheel during your trip. Each additional driver carries a set fee of $93.86 MXN per day, with all applicable taxes already included.

It is an essential requirement that anyone who intends to drive the vehicle goes directly to the rental counter alongside the primary renter. They must present the same paperwork: a valid official photo ID and a physical, current driver's license.

Absolutely! Our Merida International Airport location operates 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. No matter what time your flight lands, we'll be ready to hand over your vehicle so you can start exploring the White City right away.

To pick up your rental car at Cancun Airport, you'll need a valid official ID, a valid driver's license, and a physical credit card in your name. With MEX, you can rent a vehicle directly at our counter inside the airport — no extra paperwork, no transfer to another location.

To pick up your car rental at the Cozumel ferry port, you'll need an official photo ID (a passport is easiest for international visitors), a valid driver's license — national or international — a physical credit card in your name, and to meet the minimum age of 18. If your card isn't in your own name or you're missing one of these documents, our staff at the dock can walk you through your options before you commit to a vehicle category. Yes — our office sits right where the ferries from Playa del Carmen come in, so you can pick up your rental car as soon as you step off the boat. If you're flying in instead, we also have an office at the Cozumel Airport.

MEX's downtown rental location on the Malecón is the better pick if your stay is centered in the city — it's minutes from the main hotels and restaurants, and it offers the same rental vehicle lineup as the airport office, with a recent-model fleet and service in both English and Spanish. If your flight lands directly at the airport instead, check the timing at our La Paz International Airport location before deciding where to pick up. Both rental locations run on the same reservation system, so switching your pickup point after booking is usually just a matter of contacting the team before your time of rental begins.

To pick up your car, you'll need a valid government-issued ID (passport or a Mexican voter ID), a valid driver's license, and a physical credit card in the name of whoever made the reservation. If your driver's license isn't in the Roman alphabet, you'll also need an international driving permit valid for the full length of your rental. MEX Rent A Car reserves the right to decline a rental if these requirements aren't met, even on a reservation that's already been prepaid.

The minimum age with MEX Rent A Car in Puerto Vallarta is 18 years old — lower than the 21-and-up requirement most international rental companies set. Drivers between 18 and 24 are charged an additional young-driver fee per day, and that fee no longer applies once you turn 25. Additional drivers are welcome too, as long as they meet the same age and license requirements as the main renter.

Yes — renting a larger vehicle is one of the most requested options among families and groups heading out to Sayulita, Punta Mita, or the south side of the bay, since it gives you room for luggage and passengers alike. When it's time to return the vehicle, bring it back with a full tank of gas to avoid a refueling charge, and try to stick close to your original time of rental — MEX Rent A Car allows a grace period, but returning well past it isn't guaranteed to keep your rate.

For the following category vehicles such as Premium SUV (Chevrolet Suburban or Similar), Sport Convertible (Ford Mustang Convertible or Similar) and Standard Size SUV (Jeep Wrangler 4x4 or Similar) it is required to grant an authorization of $25,000.00 MXN.

If the credit card is American Express, an additional authorization of $30,000.00 MXN will be required for cars, SUVs and VANs.. For the following category vehicles such as Premium SUV (Chevrolet Suburban or Similar), Sport Convertible (Ford Mustang Convertible or Similar) and Standard Size SUV (Jeep Wrangler 4x4 or Similar) it is required to grant an authorization of $50,000.00 MXN.

If the credit card is Visa or Mastercard, an additional authorization of $1,500.00 MXN will be required  for cars. Yes, within Mexico you can drive between states. If you rent the car outside Mexico City and want to drive it there, please notify our call center in advance so we can provide you with a vehicle that comply with the Mexico City traffic regulations. If you rent the vehicle in Mexico you can also drive into the United States with the anticipated recruitment of our United States insurance coverage (USI). If you rent the vehicle on the U.S. you cannot cross over to Mexico. For the moment, vehicles cannot cross the border to southern countries.

The fee is based on 24 hours periods. You will have 1 hour as courtesy at the time you return the vehicle.

Rates do not include gasoline. The car must be returned with the same amount of gas with which it was initially given, this to avoid refueling charges.

We have the service of prepaid gasoline, ask for the price directly at the counter as it varies depending on the model of the car. With this service, you receive a full tank of gas and you can return it empty or in any amount less than what was delivered to you.

The rent is for a period of 24 hours. You do have 1 hour courtesy to return the car. After that time you will be charged for another rental day.

When you pick up your vehicle at the counter, you must provide your billing information to our team. In case you do not request it at the time of picking up the car, we recommend you to contact our Customer Service area at customer.care@mexrentacar.com in order to review your case in detail. 

It is important to verify that the information you provide is correct, in order to send you the invoice in a timely manner. Once the rental is finished, you should receive your invoice within 72 hours.

If you made a prepayment through a third party site, it is necessary that you contact them directly.

The only insurance required to drive in Mexico is the Liability insurance and it is already included in all reservations, no matter where you make them. Liability insurance (RLP) covers you for up to 750,000 MXN for material or personal damages to third parties, however this is not a protection or insurance for the car, so we always recommend you to purchase some coverage that protects it, this will also reduce the security deposit that you will be asked for. 

If you book at www.mexrentacar.com your reservation will already have third party damage insurance, as well as a 10% deductible protection on the value of the car. If you book through a third party, we recommend that you verify that the insurance options offered are directly included in your reservation for your convenience, since third party insurance will not be included in your reservation. Yes. Mexican law requires Liability Protection for all vehicles on the road. Our online rates already include Rental Liability Protection (RLP), which covers damages to third parties up to $750,000 MXN. If you want greater peace of mind, our Total Coverage option reduces your deductible to 0% in case of theft or total loss. We prefer to explain this clearly upfront rather than have you find out at the counter.

Total Coverage limits your financial responsibility to a 0% deductible in the event of total theft or total loss of the vehicle. This plan includes protection against material damage to tires and windshields, medical expenses for all vehicle occupants up to $40,000 MXN per person, and access to legal assistance if the situation requires it. Yes. Theft protection (CDW/TP) is part of the Maneja Seguro and Disfruta al Máximo packages: it covers total loss or theft of the vehicle with a 10% or 20% deductible on the invoice value, respectively, and 0% if you choose Disfruta al Máximo. None of these plans cover partial theft, vandalism, undercarriage damage, or weather events like earthquakes or flooding, so it's worth reading the full exclusions before signing your rental agreement.

A hold will be placed on your credit card for the security deposit. The amount depends on the vehicle category: $150 USD (approx.) for basic models (Mini to Intermediate), $200 USD for standard SUVs and Minivans, and $300 USD for Premium SUVs or Large Vans. Cash is not accepted for security deposits.

With Disfruta al Máximo, third-party liability protection extends up to $3,000,000 MXN, plus per-occupant medical expenses up to $40,000 MXN and roadside assistance up to $5,000 MXN per incident — flat tires, a dead battery, or running out of gas on a longer route. Lighter coverage tiers are available too if you'd rather keep the daily rate lower and accept a deductible, but most travelers driving unfamiliar roads for the first time find the 0% deductible option easier to budget around, since there's no surprise repair bill waiting at drop-off.

Yes, it is possible. You can pick up your car at the Guadalajara International Airport and return it to any of our offices within the Guadalajara Metropolitan Area at no additional cost. Yes. MEX Rent A Car has four offices in the Guadalajara metropolitan area: the airport (GDL), Chapalita, Punto São Paulo, and Rafael Sanzio Av. You can pick up your car at any of them and return it to another. A drop-off fee may apply depending on the distance between locations; please check with our agents at the time of rental to get the exact cost.

At the MEX counter in Terminal A & C, you will need to present three documents:

• A valid government-issued ID (Mexican national INE ID or passport)
• A valid driver's license,
• And a credit card in your name.

Your INE ID and Driver´s license must be valid throughout the entire rental period. The credit card must be presented in physical form. The same card or cardholder cannot be used to rent two or more vehicles at the same time.

Yes. Additional drivers have an approximate cost of $100 MXN per day and are registered directly at the office when signing the rental agreement. Each additional driver must be over 18 years old and present a valid driver’s license. If the driver is under 25 years old, an underage fee applies. Adding extra drivers is especially useful for long trips where sharing driving duties makes sense.

Yes, you can pick up your vehicle at one office and return it to another. One of the most convenient benefits of renting with MEX in the Guadalajara area is that if you collect your vehicle at our Punto São Paulo office and need to return it to another station within the metropolitan area, you can do so without paying additional transfer fees. This drop-off fee exemption applies specifically among our locations within the Guadalajara Metropolitan Area, including the Chapalita-Expo Guadalajara branch, the Galerías-Rafael Sanzio branch, and the Guadalajara International Airport.

This represents one of the lowest security deposits in the car rental market for all-inclusive coverage options in Guadalajara.

Our fleet operates under a strict "like-for-like" policy. Your vehicle will be delivered to you with a specific fuel level (often a full tank) and must be returned with that same amount. If the vehicle is returned with less fuel, a refueling service charge will be applied at the counter. To make your return process smoother, feel free to ask our agents about our fuel prepaid options when opening your rental agreement.

When picking up your vehicle at our calle Florencia downtown office, or any other location, you must present three mandatory documents: a valid official ID (Voter ID/INE or Passport), a valid driver's license (either physical or via the official state digital application), and a physical credit card under the main driver's name.

Yes, at MEX Rent A Car, we understand that travel plans can face unexpected logistical delays. Because of this, your confirmed reservation includes a grace period of up to 6 hours after your scheduled pick-up time.

After this period, we cannot guarantee the availability of the specific vehicle category you reserved. Nevertheless, our counter staff will do everything possible to provide you with an agile mobility solution.

We don't accept cash or vouchers at any point in the process, and the same card or cardholder can't be used to rent two vehicles within the same period.

After finalizing your contract and obtaining your "CHECK OUT" voucher, the approximate time in which you will see the deposit reflected in your account depends on your bank and can vary between 7 to 21 business days. 

If the estimated time has already passed, we strongly recommend you to contact an executive of your bank with your reference number that you can identify in your "CHECK OUT" voucher so that they can identify the operation and release your security deposit. 

In case of any additional questions or if you do not have your voucher, you can request it at customer.care@mexrentacar.com and one of our executives will send it to you. 

Due to the fluctuation of exchange rates and being an independent company, the exchange rate is stipulated in your contract and according to this the conversion is made for the corresponding charge. However, the charges are applied in Mexican pesos according to this reference in dollars, so if the amount reflected in dollars is different, it corresponds to the value of the exchange rate between your bank and the one stipulated in your contract, however, the amount in Mexican pesos is the same. 

It is important to verify if your issuing bank applies extra charges for foreign transactions, since Mex Rent a Car is not responsible for this type of charges.

Yes. You can pick up your car at Terminals A & C and return it to any other MEX locations in the metropolitan area, such as Terminal B at the same airport, Monterrey Downtown (Barrio Antiguo), or San Pedro Garza García (Valle Oriente). It is also possible to return the vehicle at other MEX offices outside the Monterrey metropolitan area; however, a drop-off fee may apply depending on the distance between locations.

All vehicles must be returned with the same amount of fuel they had at the start of the rental period to avoid refueling service charges. To prevent these extra costs, we recommend topping off the gas tank right before returning the car to our office. If you prefer not to worry about finding a local service station during your trip, you can ask our uniform agents about our convenient prepaid fuel option when opening your rental agreement at the counter.

Yes, you can drop off your vehicle at a different branch, and you enjoy a significant strategic advantage within the metropolitan area: if you pick up your car at any office within the Mexico City Metropolitan Area and return it to another branch within that same zone, the drop-off fee is completely waived.

No — vehicles picked up at our San Diego CBX office stay on the U.S. side and must be returned there; the same applies in reverse for cars picked up in Mexico. If your trip needs pickup or drop-off from the Mexican side of the border, check our Tijuana Airport location instead.

For your convenience, the vehicle is generally provided with a full tank of gas; we ask that you return it with the same fuel level to avoid refueling fees. Regarding scheduling, we offer a 6-hour grace period following your confirmed pickup time to ensure your reservation is held. Please note that the reserved rate applies strictly to the agreed-upon rental period; any returns outside of this timeframe may be subject to additional late-return fees.

Yes — you can pick up your car downtown and return the vehicle at our Tulum Airport location, though a drop-off fee applies based on the distance between offices. If you return the vehicle after your agreed time, a one-time fee of $669.55 MXN applies on top of the extended day's rate, so if your flight schedule changes, let us know ahead of time. Returning early also carries a separate one-time fee, so it's worth booking for the dates you actually plan to drive.
