SHUTTLE/ARRIVAL INFORMATION

When flight details are not provided, the customer may call upon arrival for free shuttle service available in San Jose Airport and in Liberia airport at the local number: 506-2430-0629 (San José) and 506-8519-8889 (Liberia) at office hours. Every 15 minutes a Shuttle Service is provided from Terminals to the closest facility. Shuttle is branded with Mex Rent A Car / Avanti Rent A Car. We offer meet and greet service at the airport when exact flight details are provided. Renter will be received at external arrival gates by a Mex Rent A Car representative.

ADDITIONAL DRIVER

The renter/driver is free of charge; extra additional drivers have a surcharge of $5.00 USD per day plus taxes.

RULES

Valid Driving License from its country of origin, the renter and the driver(s) must present it in original. A driving license issued abroad is valid for 90 days in Costa Rica from the immigration entry stamp data on passport. Driver’s license must be printed in Roman alphabet. For Arabic, Chinese, Japanese, Cyrillic, Hebrew, etc. driver licenses, it has to be complemented by an International driving license. Present your valid passport and driver’s license at time of pick up.

TAXES

As of July 1, 2021, the additional tax of 13% will be applied on the total value of the rental agreement, due to the regulations of the Costa Rica government. This must be paid directly at the office and is applicable for LIR - Liberia Airport and SJO - San Jose Airport.

AGE

Minimum rental age is 23 years old, maximum age to rent a car is 75 years old. Clients between 21-22 years of age may rent as long as they present a valid license and have more than two years of possession of it. There is a charge of $15.00 USD per day plus taxes for drivers 21 and 22 years old.

MILEAGE

The mileage is unlimited.

GEOGRAPHIC

Cars can not be taken out of Costa Rica.

OUT OF OPENING HOURS

Delivery Service is on request at Airport facilities. For Delivery after hours the full information of the Arrival Flight must be provided in advance. Please contact the Car Rental Reservations Department. Collection of cars must be done during opening hours.

ONE-WAY

All One-Way Rentals are upon request and fees may apply. A full chart with detailed fees is provided in the agreement of services; if you need further information, please contact the Car Rental Reservations Department. Notice: International one-way rentals are not allowed. The cross-border option is not allowed.

GAS

All vehicles must be returned with the same amount of fuel (please check if the car uses petrol-gasoline or diesel fuel), please returned as it was delivered. Refueling charges will apply.

DEPOSIT

Visa, MasterCard or American Express credit cards are accepted to cover the guarantee deposit that ranges from $1250.00 USD to $2,500.00 USD, depending on the characteristics of your reservation. Debit Cards or Cash are not accepted for this type of payment.

ONLINE BOOKINGS

Rates that are impacted by a website technical issue, database issue or other means will not be honored by the location if the rate display was inaccurate due to a technical issue or tampering issue to change the rate display.
