Grand Cayman Terms & Conditions


ARRIVAL INFORMATION

After collecting your luggage and exiting the airport you will see signs that direct you to our main office. We are a 90 second walk across the street from the airport arrivals building. No shuttles allowed. You can also call +1 (345) 949 8111 for additional pick up instructions.

 

RULES

All customers should present the following documents in order to proceed with the rental:

  • Valid official ID (Passport).
  • Valid Driver’s License.
  • Credit Card.

Additional drivers must have a valid driver's license  and Passport or official ID as well.

 

GRACE PERIOD

Reservations will be honored for a period of 2 hours after the confirmed pick up date and time. After this period, we cannot guarantee the reserved vehicle, but you can be sure we will do everything in our hands to provide you with a vehicle.

 

ADDITIONAL DRIVER

Additional driver(s) not related to the primary driver as spouse, will be charged additional driver fee of $5.00 USD per day. The additional driver must be on the rental agreement and will have the same responsibilities as the primary driver.

 

AGE

Minimum rental age permitted is 21 years and maximum age permitted to rent is 85 years. There is no charge related to age, however, only renters with 26 years and higher can take our full coverage options.

 

DEPOSIT

In Addition to the rental payment, you will be required to hold a deposit of $700 USD on your credit card.

 

OPTIONAL EXTRAS

Child seats are available for $20.00 USD per day plus taxes. If the seat is not returned in the same condition, less normal wear and tear as received, a cleaning fee will be assessed. If the seat is damaged a repair or replacement charge will apply. (Subject to availability).

 

FUEL

The vehicle must be returned with the same amount of fuel. We deliver our vehicles with full tanks, please return the vehicle with the same amount.

 

ONE-WAY RENTALS

One-way is available in any of our 3 local offices and there is no extra charge. Please ask upon arrival for more information.

 

GEOGRAPHIC

Vehicles are permitted to transit on the island. Vehicles can not leave the Grand Cayman island.

 

MILEAGE

All reservations include unlimited mileage.

 

DRIVERS LICENSE

All drivers must present a valid drivers license during pick up.

 

NO SMOKING

Please do not smoke inside the vehicle. If any smoke is detected, a cleaning fee will apply.

 

PAYMENTS

The following are accepted methods for payment: Visa, Mastercard, Discover, American Express and Diners club. A credit card must be presented for the deposit hold.

 

INSURANCE AND WAIVER OPTIONS

Third-Party Liability Coverage (price varies by Vehicle Class): Available to drivers aged 21 and over. This Option covers 3rd-Party vehicle/property damages up to $300,000 USD and 3rd-Party bodily injury up to $6,000,000 USD per accident. Third Party Liability does not cover any damage related to the rental vehicle. 

 

Deductible Coverage (price varies by vehicle class): Available to drivers aged 21 and over. Covers damages to the rental vehicle, with a $2,400 USD deductible. In the case of damages to the rental vehicle, renter is required to pay up to a total of $2,400 USD. This Option also includes de Third-Party Liability, which covers 3rd-Party vehicle/property damages up to $300,000 USD and 3rd-Party bodily injury up to $6,000,000 USD per accident.

 

Full Coverage (price varies by vehicle class): Available to drivers aged 26 and over. Covers damages to the rental vehicle during the course of the rental contract. This option, also includes Third-Party Liability, which covers 3rd-Party vehicle/property damages up to $300,000 USD and 3rd-Party bodily injury up to $6,000,000 USD per accident Important information: These policies are valid during the normal course of driving and will be deemed VOID if the renter or any additional driver is using the vehicle in violation of any Laws of the Cayman Islands or fails to adhere to Terms and Conditions of the rental agreement. Damages caused by negligence, abuse, unauthorized drivers and isolated "ACTS OF GOD"(falling coconuts, etc.) are NOT covered by any of the policies. 

The prices for each of the coverages is listed below and will depend on the vehicle class.

  • For vehicles in categories CCAR (compact automatic car) and ICAR (midsize automatic car): Third-Party Liability costs $7.00 USD per day, Deductible Coverage costs $11.00 USD per day, and Full Coverage costs $17.95 per day. -For vehicles in category FCAR (full size automatic car): Third-Party Liability costs $9.95 USD per day, Deductible Coverage costs $12.00 USD per day, and Full Coverage costs $19.95 per day.
  • For vehicles in categories IFAR (Midsize automatic SUV) and FFAR (Full size automatic SUV): Third-Party Liability costs $10.00 USD per day, Deductible Coverage costs $13.00 USD per day, and Full Coverage costs $20.95 per day. -For vehicles in categories SJAR (Midsize 4WD automatic SUV, MVAR (Mini automatic Van and LVAR (Luxury automatic Van): Third-Party Liability costs $11.95 USD per day, Deductible Coverage costs $17.00 USD per day, and Full Coverage costs $23.95 per day.

 

MISCELLANEOUS INFORMATION

Multiple or Duplicate Reservations: If you require multiple vehicles for the same or overlapping time periods, please make sure to use a different name for each reservation, otherwise the duplicate name reservations will be automatically canceled. Mex Rent A Car will not be responsible for such cancellations.

Late return: All reservations have a tolerance period of 59 minutes after the drop off date and hour. After this, a charge for late return may apply.

Mex Rent A Car reserves the right not to deliver the vehicle if it considers that the driver is not able to drive or if the driver does not comply with the rules described on these terms, even if the booking has been prepaid. Therefore, it is very important that you familiarize the terms and the documents that need to be presented at pick up. 

Rates that are impacted by a website technical issue, database issue or other means will not be honored by the location if the rate display was inaccurate due to a technical issue or tampering issue to change the rate display.

Due fluctuations on the currency exchange rate, have in mind that the total charged on your credit card might differ from the total displayed on our website. The difference (if any) will depend on the currency exchange rate between the moment when the booking was made and the moment when the charge is reflected on your credit card statement. In the event we have to refund any amount to your account, we will refund the exact same amount charged originally and we will not be responsible for any currency fluctuation that may occur and that results in a higher or lower refund than the one expected.

 

CANCELLATIONS

If your booking was confirmed through the website www.mexrentacar.com or through our Call Center at +52 (33) 4624 2114, please use the same channel to request your cancellation. If your booking was confirmed through a third-party website (broker, online travel agency, etc.) please use the same third-party website to request your cancellation. Some third-party sites have cancellation fees if the booking is not canceled within a certain period of time. Mex Rent a Car will not be responsible for such cancellation fees.
